Wild Wild Rose - The Musical

Wild Wild Rose the Musical was adapted from the classic black and white movie of the same name produced in 1960, in turn adapted from Bizet's opera "Carmen". Directed by Wang Tian Ling, the movie’s plot telling of seduction, love and betrayal between a sensuous singer and mediocre musician was considered a daring one in society then. Winning accolades worldwide, the movie was shortlisted as the best Chinese film of the past century. Staying true to the original plot and featuring widely popular songs from the movie such as《卡門》、《蝴蝶夫人》、《說不出的快活》、this Chinese musical is a colourful extravaganza capturing both the on-stage glamour and catching glimpses of the helpless sorrow behind the nightclub entertainment scene. Wild Wild Rose The Musical stars Perry Chiu, the veteran Hong Kong theatre actress and Thomas Ong, our very own home grown star in his debut theatre act! Thomas Ong burst onto the entertainment scene in 1996 with his lead role in Wild Orchids and remains highly popular today. His most recent lead role in the hit success ‘Perfect Cut’ further underlined his polished acting skills, honed through the years. Thomas acted in his first musical with Constance Song 《I have a date with Spring》 10 years ago and a decade later, he is taking on the male lead of Wild Wild Rose and will be charming the audience with his acting skill, dancing moves and even singing! Perry was nominated twice for the Hong Kong Theatre Award’s Best Actress Award with her performances in 《The Dream of a Young Girl》 and 《Butterflies are Free》, the famous Broadway production. Besides her theatre accolades, Perry has also starred in movies, TV drama serials and hosted an entertainment news programme on radio. Feeling like you need a little something extra this new year? Perhaps something a little more exciting and… a little wild? Wild Wild Rose promises to transport you back into the 1960s where song and dance ruled the night.
